Three home run game I should say so. Gary Major League Baseball history this is amazing to me those who in a season has had a three homer game. Had hit for the cycle up and have had a walk off home run. Which is now have all this season the others who have had that in the history of the game 1933. Jimmie Foxx 1937 Jordan Maggio. 1946 Ted Williams 1979. George Brett that's a good list if you're on a list of the baseball player really those names. Good for you yeah you're doing that's incredible and that wraps up. All right so. Blow we'll have Lincoln Riley yours coming in just a couple of minutes but we wanna do something real quickly that okay the first hour all right because I I don't think you have many people. Heard it a moment get back to little bit. Because the idea that Levy on bell the Steelers running back who is a running back right. One of the reasons he turned down the Steelers offer and play into the franchise tag of twelve point one million dollars this year. Is he wants to do what's happened a lot in the NBA he doesn't want to be defined by his position and his argument is pretty strong from a statistical standpoint which is look man. I'm as much a receiver. As Amer running back he was the second highest receiver on the Steelers last year despite missing games at 75 and 76 got just now and close to a thousand yards. In receiving so had he had a full season he might have been. But you know hundred catch thousand yard receiver and the difference for him is big money wise because the average year. The salary of the top five wide receivers right now on the NFL. Is fifteen point seven million wears around or running back it's just twelve point one right that there's a significant difference there. And let. The I'm late I'm Belo is going to be he's going to be guys at running back in the game. Right he's going to be right not this year eventually but probably next year so now it's all matter that number's going to be. So no doubt from a player's side you wanna make it as high as you can for the next group coming up the David Johnson the world OJ jives. As he Kelly's resilience who's so they had an album art Gordon and of course. Teams wanna keep that number down to not make the benchmark too high. So then what does it come down to can they agree on a number. They've laid down bella is trying to say I don't have a position gridlock Jimmy Graham try that saves a wide receivers and tight and it try to I don't look at it worked because everything is so slotted. To the position even though I get I understand his argument a question statistically has a point so when it gets down to it so that comes down to what has happened for good in the beginning of time in football. If you don't wanna pay me awhile more I'm going to hold up my services and then how long annual doctors are correct. And it does when you start missing game checks. We've only see a couple of guys actually skip an entire season so I never think a player is going to do that especially when you can make twelve million dollars this year on the franchise tag excel. The end of the day I mean Pittsburgh would love to have my on the field but leverage I still think at this point swings in favor from I holed out standpoint. In favor of the Pittsburgh Steelers and you got a guy says how much money are you willing to sit out and not have or you see the team caving person it's okay we're gonna give you. Way above what we thought we are written well they did something interesting with Antonio Brown a few years ago an -- do you read on his contract right got into O'Neal brown money I gave him accountable care is not our place holder out her dad I don't think you can do that with the running back to she's going to be twice ought to slice or doesn't work because there at their over the hill a lot quicker supposedly that everybody exactly right he'll be 26 when he can as if he plays right he's got to play under the tag last year up after -- -- -- 26 and you think maybe a four years left you he's gonna get that failure to talk to place -- and I caught it pretty -- your work friend Antonio Brown I don't know that situation. We'll work here and then. You know will he be upset will exit out oiled up this year with actual packet here I think this is part camp for sure I do as well I think the Steelers he probably won't admit it will be like. Just be healthy for the start don't you call that veteran move that's exactly. I well all my helmet OK you noted after the a lot of ways you can get around that so we'll see how that plays out over for Libyan rebel but again if he's gonna make twelve might if the odds are makes will be the play or miss some games and don't make twelve all wobbling. Think you make the tall automate the twelve million myself you know I would wanna done I would want to have been a head coach. Eddie Eddie major power conference school by the age of 33 would have denied it happened for me didn't have for me I haven't for this guy who joins us now. A Lincoln Riley head coaching over Oklahoma congratulations thank you Ginsburg to be here it is great to have you here so before it gets anything else. We have to ask it took everyone by surprise that this move was made in June. How far along did you know that this was. I knew from about a week before that there was a chance in all that that that Bob was thinking about it but. You know in this business the most news news. Those become possibilities but the same time you don't wanna get too for yourself but then as we got a little vehicle's front of his more cheers about it and happened pretty quick confident that he start. He did he say hey come on thinking about this and if this happens I want you to be the guy I mean how did that go to eat basically in a little bit longer more do I noticed that by the way. That's pretty good now's a good day that point. So that that that it he. How how soon after he told you over his intentions that he then announced he was going to retire was it was that quick succession it was quirk he he told me that he was at least thinking about it you know a week a week before it happened and then. But I didn't know for sure until the morning that it actually does happen and that we you know announced into the pro. Conference. So yeah we had Tom Herman here last hour of new head coach university Texas. And he said he was kind of overwhelming when he walked in the room for that press conference. And he saw you don't the wife of Darrell royal was there and the loss Dodson Mack Brown always people that he would of when he was a graduate assistant paid money. To listen to have them speak and now they're showing up to hear him speak at a press conference on the TV side of it on the show we played a little bit of of the press coverage where you were announced and you got a little emotional well what's it like when it when that hits you full force of holy cow look at the responsibility. I've been given. When it hits you it's hard to describe it hits you in a way that probably you. You've never felt before and then you know ours W was so unique because of in working for Bob. The last two years his history there the fact that it count all happened at once were was like his retirement press conference of my hiring and ones so it was. And emotions were high because it happens so quickly discovered until on the team no more than an hour before that so it was. Heather's they'll play a lot going on in your head it was but it was exciting to see all the people support. That we have there take people into into the weeds a little bit with just as I look at it kind of like a business you know when you're the offensive coordinator quarterback coach which you were there. You're kind of like of a company running the division this is my division you know in the division that the defense of on your defense is I don't see them you know you you're running your division. Now you just became the CEO. Now here you come out there running that division now you have to oversee everything so talk about that transition of I went into this room every day and and just worked on my division now I have to oversee everything after Bogota and all the defensive play pierce now because I don't work on that side of the ball to talk about that transition. Well it was great to be a coordinator first for seven years because you. And that's that your count head coach of the offense you know use you make those decisions you have the relationship you're dealing with coaches. But but there's no question when you get into the stroller so much more than comes at you and I was lucky the three head coaches are worked before. Mike Leach Ruffin McNeill and Bob were great about having given me insight. To what was going on including me and encountered their daily retained and then. I enjoyed the the other parts of the in the x.s and holes are like the organizational part the business for the staff partner at. In awed that interest me being able to bounce round of all the different things that ship to do in this job. Lincoln Riley knew that coach at Oklahoma joins us now on them Mike trade this morning lobbyist in two years in radio. You know we had Tom here we talked about the pressure he faced because you know trying to turn around a legendary program that's struggled. Plus 45 years. On the other side of it. You've been given a program that's done really well so there's a lot of pressure on that set average you to maintain that high standard that Bob Stoops is set how do you deal with that. But the Q just you look at it day today I think that's only chance that your health and Yonder and in a lot of people that knew about the pressure on the expectations and those are part of it but also look at it as an opportunity and an opportunity that if you do well there. You can win championships you can have great players I mean you can accomplish everything in this game that you could ever want to and so. And I've got to understand the pressure and expectations a little shy away from them but I'm more excited about the opportunity than I am hesitant about the expectations. Are you one that that and I am just imagining most coaches shows where you started as a student assistant. Right and dried up as an astronaut suit and a citizen got to 2003 or grad assistant 2006 all all the Texas Tech. That when you started that and knowing that's the path you wanted to go down. That did you know that you say. I'm gonna be a head coach Sunday or that's my goal and if it was you set a timetable for that of say I've I've really wanna be head coach by this time. Did you do that and. I'd felt pretty quickly I didn't elves have worked you know with Mike and those early years at Texas Tech pretty closely Sar got an inside look about what being a coach likes allies. Always felt like that you know had those qualities and would want that responsibility but as far as a timetable now you just. He just never know you know we were there was at that time there you look out that offense has really spread throughout college football but there was a time there were. A lot of coaches are now greater coaches and today's game where we're gonna architects that we were a little bit of the kind of odd ball you know law men now where we were doing some an offense when that was really innovative but everybody else was kind of scared to take a chance on its audit no. You know when we would start getting opportunities but once you guys branched off and did well then the start to take off for a lot of. But certainly taken off everywhere and and baker mayfield has played really well on the last couple seasons for you. Had a little issue this offseason he's coming back this year or are we had a chance to speak to baker and say you know. Expectations. And and what how we need your reporter so basically. This in ought thinking common that you look at you know what kind of guys he does he have a history of that was that an isolated incidents you know for bay Q. It was totally not related incidents in on happening in three years he's been phenomenal and he's been great since and I think it's one of those deals that you can turn and the positive and learn from it. He's he's played that position as well as anybody in the country over the last couple years and of course will will expecting to do it again what's your style as now you're the head coach so they always say team takes on the personality of their head coach what is that what what can Oklahoma fans expect that the team looks like. Well I've I think you know as a head coach on a pretty hands on. Like them to be involved in all the different parts of it and then I look at it that. You know you've got to be a little bit everything there's time when you've got to be kind of of the CEO version of style where you've got to be right in the middle of it the -- going to be a good cup comes you've got to be about a cup and so. I think a lot on my job is to set direction but also be. Whatever the situation calls for Lincoln Riley with a new head coach at Oklahoma you with the offensive coordinator right on that on. Before you got this job which means you're very familiar with some names that a lot of people. Have a lot of attention drawn to them this past year in. With what went on with the tape and the suspension in the release of the tape and everything that happened after that. What can you tell people about the person Joan. Sinners. You know it's it's it's a tough subject for us too because you look at it. From two points of view you know what he did was was was terrible those terrible mistake that's not condoned by anybody. But you also get to know the person away from it in on I got there in almost six months after it happened and I got to see a guy that was on Lee. In a one on most gonna caring compassionate players and I've ever been around malls agree teamed always had a smile and say incredibly unselfish old. You know you're kind of torn in on the objects so. He would do you know I hate that it happened but you know he he was given a second chip and I'm proud of the way that he's handled the second chance come bought rope broke and Bob Stoops has said afterwards after when the tape was released. Obviously he's he he wished he would have done things differently with the way he was suspended. On if that situation comes up something like that comes over you how old Lincoln Riley handled the situation like that well think you've got to look at each individual one and you know and and is the situation bad enough that you're not able to bring them back not rehabilitate them with what's individual like. It's hard to appearance at that exact same situation happened you know how would you handle it but it hopefully we can find some balance not. As far as that the conference overall people say the big twelve and you know what's at offensive firepower but you know defense is can't stop anybody so when. When people say that about that conference what what do you say to them that the conference does you don't get talked about in that vein at times what your answer to that. Well just just look at the numbers from last year and I think. There's no outs. Offensively. When is specially in the league we play the nine other opponents there's and there's not one game or you're not challenged our by the by the other team's offense our one and and no stat is better than you look at the season stats in the offensive play and all that and then you go back and look at the bowl game. All right and the number one conference for defense that would not within all the bowl game was a big 120. You know is it that the defense is a struggle nor is it that made offensive are pretty good week in week out in the numbers let's just latter. Well I wouldn't and I love the fact that that one year Texas Tech the head baker mayfield was there. Now the kid from cal was there and also Davis will get Davis weapon and and Patrick behold about that's a pretty deep quarterback's face so pretty young quarterback from okay. We will we did a deep dive when you were named head coach at 33 were trying to think. Of one of the greatest things that ever happened to someone at the age of 33 and this was a list we came up with him. We can we puts you fifth UB fifth yeah fifth this you. Fourth place was Steve Jobs in vetted Macintosh to this a tough this listed as a a fourth place was that. Third place I think we went with Mark Zuckerberg. Became the sixth richest person in the world. I think everybody I brought out that outsold the fact these are the people that are beating you at the age of 33. We thought we had nailed it with this next when we thought we thought this was number one but it wasn't turned out to be number two Thomas Jefferson drafted the declaration and not bell pretty good or thought that was really thought it was a number one and so much waited in this other one yeah Jesus Christ crucified it's. It meant yeah. I what America might drop her a ride that it got all he rose from the dead so you know your fifth because we haven't had a bumpy down. For those outlets and that through that fifth what's Ridley guys Hala good everything's in perspective right exactly the competitive and they tell you about them went and had a bet and he's gonna name's Helen Thomas and a lot better than we don't adopt a day and it's good Zuckerberg area of Thomas evident JC yeah out. Yeah. So anyway best of luck. Junior first season first time since I've 1947. To new head coach in the Red River Rivalry Oklahoma Texas for those. Out regional sports fans that don't understand the impact of that game. Having gone to school in Texas I went to Baylor so it was too good luck and all the games one. It's an unbelievable atmosphere Texas so you weaken is insane would you believe me if if I said Tom Herman told us that. Bigger all the wind would have to here we go do ergo you're definitely do and he said that. I've left a message you can say that it would not be further he's just taken a fire and some gas aloud why we love to say I can tell congress senate that you geared humor and I -- ago I don't I'll love it I love that offer he went into the gutter is exactly right and we wish you nothing but the best of success and except that one game against Matt ruled the builders. Lincoln Riley congratulations. And again you're OK with being fifth on the list I can knock and handle the didn't have a bet on that list we'll see what happens the C. With the Oklahoma. On the new deal I'm sure you're thrilled as our raider fans that this partnership looks like it's going to go forward for a long long time. You have food through my thanks for having me yeah to refer you know most importantly the go to play from you know my favorite thing you know for as long as well so if that's that of course spark from me. Before we we. You know move ahead to this year and and have some fun talking about the wonderful contracts are signed as well is there. Is thirst is if you've gotten past the what ifs of what possibly could have happened last year had. You're not getting hurt as well as your team was playing or are you able already put that behind you or is it used as motivation for this year. He knows what it's all a little bit of both. You know it's. You obviously you're human recipient thank you what could have happened that all those things for playing time. There's nothing you know figure about and changed no effect that you've got to play to my uncle you know. It took them or about Saba. It's still is Libya's but out of bus and that was just a broken ankle a commitment to what works so. It just feels the fire for this season. You know fields of fire for want to get backed camp of you know could more work. To strive toward the ultimate goal that's one of our division you know once you bow but. We have so much to better I mean we've been MVP chief Lester one dot. So you know. To and so parents they would sure Erica. You know. Who knows what we you know we still have a lot of work to do. Within our own division little hole and put. Dirt car with this on my can trade this morning Mike and Mike in one of the things that I really loved about their when I met him the first time in in this. We do this thing at ESPN where we have all the wood a lot of the top players combo up here before the draft right to go to the car wash. And we go through that and we sat down and talk to Derek and which I'm sure you remembers it now as vividly as I remember I probably. But I was impressed Derek I felt what I was talking to you. That I was talking to a 35 year old not a 23 year old and the way you answer that question from Mike they're just about. The season and saying they've reading beat the chiefs wants last year. I think that's the Bible Lotta people get from you that you really are an older soul. How much do you think that sort of help Q and make the transition from being a college athlete to a professional player. Man well thank you you know to go. Into situations. You know where we've you know our organization had won the purple. It would go somewhere where. You know they they reported on two. Two younger. You know there really are young guys that come and enter into culture and not start doing things a little bit different. You know I guess the other because other. A little bit of an old soul you know I think given me. The other guys opponents situation you know is it's a tough thing amp. That's not easy going all intend to start your career you can that in the corporate position. You know but I've got a good man. He got together through it mean glue with this repaired. After every game we have talked about it and the promise shoot and get better. You know pumped here it's gonna get better and you know we were there through the hard times announcement on the field so near the side of the you know when a football game to things like that. You know like yes you know there's more out there a lot more out there that we do it. You know for organizations so it's just so we just continues motivated. You won't be great. And you know we see it in sports are sometimes what you have to do. To be great you know a lot of lot of your brother in the league have tweeted about the money that the NBA players are making how or how crazy it is not only not to superstars but. But at the lesser players of the superstars and the money they make. Then you see a guy like our Kevin Durant people little bit or take keep money don't take as much as he can help and sign others. And what your contract obviously a fantastic contracts such up for generations of a lot of money. But you also. Did the same thing you you you felt the need to leave some on the table as well for the team I think it's a shame that players have to do that. That you can't just get all you can get but. It's part of the reality that if you wanna win as a team that it seems that. That this has become part of a for the highest paid guys so talk about that process work. You had to make that decision of what you wanted to do for individual yourself and team as far as money. Oh absolutely you know the number one thing. I told my agent we're doing next. Was I don't want her to think. However we have to structure do it you know obviously I know that. It's going to be around a certain number anyway you know just the that's the quarterback convention. And can't be mad at that thanks to the other guys don't know that there are still being mad don't mean bad. It. I was gonna complain one time you know that this can happen the pro football but. You know on this. I told them just don't hurt me you know wanna make sure we have guys like Dave wedge actually this we have coo bill that would be beside you or. Woman veteran in the world and where it's called make sure that they're fuel pick everything he can't you know I'm good I don't need to know what you were talking about certain numbers I think I'm okay he's you know. And not a not a greedy person. You know so what you're so puritanical about everybody and that's the main thing it's Reggie. Told me nor nor general manager decent. I don't have we can structure it this way. Obviously. There won't certain aspects will be as far achieved you know those kind of things but obviously you know us so we don't do. You know we're going to be just fine and so finalist who is that if we can do it that way we can argue yes and literally that we expected checked. So. For a team and a player toward together. Which is a common these states. Trust Google worked together. And into each side of a third of the bargain and hold true. It really is the loyalty of the trust there it really is just so special scrambling here oh here broke. And that's really awesome to see that played out it reminds you what you Tom Brady is number he's number in the eyes right player. In the league with what he's don't that we live in the weight Peyton Manning structured his conduct several times and it will take a penny more than Tom Brady's it's nice to see that. That the quarterbacks arts were doing that make they understand dean Steve said it's just reality yourself making a ton of money that brightness that jobs army and all works out well Derek you've been there for bunch years but this is going to be an interesting year as Marshawn Lynch has come out of retirement. And I know you've seen this map but. They put up but map of his Jersey sales by state. Marshall which has taken over the west side of the United States like basically. From California to out just outside the Rockies were Von Miller takes over the entire western third of the state is all Marshawn Lynch. Beast mode Jersey sales how how popular do you think he's going to be here. Oh my goodness how long ago or so ago like pavement cumulative ticket dogs get the business that is of goodness gracious. You know. I saw the map and that it just made me smile because he's. He's a great teammate funny guy and someone also beer around like literally what we've been on pain. We haven't we'll call each other we've faced each other so it's literally bit like I would love beyond that faced. Oh our prayers have been. You know. No. Late yesterday and I was in the car and you know we're just there it's improved my wife my kids. And those who vocal I have a scratch and look for is that my brother let alone my brother. Decided it in the face that'll put people ask law lets look Brothers Angeles. And via ports and so he goes. Armed man who mentioned it before a third go about two Ehrlich of actually bigger market assuming laughter so he's also. You know it's just that. This is a fun dude you Chauncey wire on the side about it and a little on the table on the football good hard. We'll see on news. It you know were targeted their car quarterback for the raiders and you position that there's no real precedent for more than that the two are too tough to talk about is. A team that's supposed to leave at a couple of years but not leave and right now you're basically going to be the face of that team as a quarterback of that team. And you're preparing for the now which is training camp. And then the first pre season game and then their first regular season game. And they are going to be fans that certainly wanna talk about you know what's gonna happen in a couple years how. How do you plan on kind of of rustling with that and I'm weighing that in having to deal with then now while wanna play within. And what fans may want to talk about. Yeah you know it's it's so partisan like he says there's no. This program happen ran this little book on this you know there there was no way. Right way to do it we just have to try our bastions spano is going to be perfect most of what people wanna hear. But but it there's there's no group. There's no right way to do this you just try your best. And I would think that we've learned this obviously. Vegas is coming you know that is coming we can feel the excitement there but at same time we can bill. You know playing looks or tramp and local band. California kids and the way that I focused on it is I feel that I'm called to get this city everything that I have for relief and so. That's how I've just stay focused on you know it's all of my. My wife. And you know blues manager worry about housing you know worry about schools and all those strange and a different cities. Gonna sit here nominal worry about winning in Oakland and winning and. But we know no matter where you play raider fans travel week we comprised as you well know. The silver black nation shows up no matter where you guys play but there's a different thing in play for you guys Derek now and that's a fancy word called expectations. You know this past season was the first time you had a winning season since the raiders last witness who bought the 2002 season. First time he made the playoffs since. How you deal with the expectations now when people say oh yes it should be the patriots are the raiders. Representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. Just like a Serb you know we didn't even know. There was a team and our division we've been in it wants has been awhile since we didn't. You know bet that's just so we keep in reality. You know and then. There are those a couple games were. You know we fell apart in certain areas and when you really sit back and look at it. We actually you know you know you would do would World Bank's books. We could be better. I think that estimate keeps our team hungry news no matter what we do would have satisfied you know no matter what we do on the field. We always come back that next offseason trying to kill so the well what shortening work in our communities and mini camp. You know in phase one phase to that right there showed me. There were going to be all right because no agreements fans call him we dipped his peaks and don't have the speech and I don't know which I have this kind of beauty your older in this. It's none of that because everyone has talent everyone in the info has power and so our job as leaders to make sure we virtually grinding our tails off. Due to the point that no football sucks sometimes I think the best important. You know that you have to question that some type. And I think that when you get to a point. But you can put your best report on Sunday and so that that's my government leaders to make sure. Only returning camp that we are doing virtually everything we can't to work cartel often hostile take care of itself. Why I'm so glad you brought that up as one of my favorite clips from the NFL films that do such an amazing job was last year unit you guys at Florida to step they played back to back games. In Florida and before the game against the box I think it was what was the second of two games. The caught. Just so people aren't aware inmate number 1027820. Low block correctional facility in La look Nevada a medium security facility about ninety miles northeast of Reno. Is up for role that. Now why is that a big deal well inmate number 127820. Is none other than oh geez I served the minimum. Of the 33 years. The prison for our armed robbery. Memorabilia and served nine years nine years inaccurate expert at 1 o'clock eastern time today be on an outside the light special on yet. It's also available on the he has. And apparently there's a good chance that he might make rolled it out today but although this vision of the day early. October for the question is. Will he be received back into public do you feel about this because there's there's two things in play here obviously. If he's been a good prisoner and he has done everything he wanted to do. He served the mandatory. Remote. Holes out I mean he's he's wild to do it that's the laws of society. But the hard part for a lot of people won't be put in jail. Will be the thing that didn't want to accurate which was the allegations of double murder charges against ex wife and Ron Goldman which he was found not the right. He wants and there's still many people I total believe that at all right so in the Lotta people don't believe that the he was not guilty the reality of the situation now you tell me if I'm wrong or anybody in your shot at a are proving I'm wrong when he gets out. He's getting him tons of money thrown at him. For first interview and he's gonna get a ton of money thrown at him to write a book and his autograph will be worth gold. If he does that mean you won't want to go do they were correct I mean that I think you don't have to be likely to be famous or to be a stock car. Right now and and that is I don't have any doubt that that's gonna happen and hopefully because of the civil suit that he was found negligent in in the right in the wrongful death of Nicole brown and Ron Goldman junior. That that money goes to them converted three and a half million he'll be here is owed there are old you know if if OJ's making money then. And the idea that they should go to the right at him while he was found he was found guilty of that level all huddled down wrongful deaths there but eagle he can never be charged for that. Would murder again that was never going to happen but how do you say data they you're running until your out on the street there's OJ we're. I don't know if there ever was gonna come up to the with their own thing about it that's going to be at two I don't know how anyone feels about that are how they should feel about it.
