Phenomenal at that yeah yeah he's he's he's one Abbas and so I'll look forward that conversation with tray we go. On I do wanna get to this before we get to drag it. Why does ESPN insist on sending nude in the Bahamas every year that is getting ridiculous. Why why yell hate look. People have rolls okay and your role. Is to be epic dedicated frozen like a popsicle. My role is to be in shorts. In the Bahamas. Hanging out with tiger and John Romney and key here means you do you think do you own a pair of pants. I might be able to find pants the eighteenth count that high yet Jeanne teams kind of camp. OK so I got some jeans and after Jesus and sweats look I don't overnight flights. I'm in a nice pair of sweats you know the sleeping comfortable or are you overnight flights to Europe to cover more golf. Obsessed again. Rolls all of us have roles I can't believe I didn't think you're due out. Have you not heard the term fake ticket making significant I couldn't figure in the Bahamas setup spot talent why you trying to. It hit a ball on I think what happened over their head they gonna happen over the Bahamas. You know I did find out because it's it's run by the hero if the hero world challenge at hero is. A motorcycle and a well a two wheeled motor corporation one biggest the biggest in the world but we never seek hero. Motorcycles scooters here in the United States but it's an Indian company rate it's a really cool do pop bond. Is the guy who owns so. Every day they serve Indian food. And and my body decided that four days of Indian food was the Max that was it but still stop if there he. Oh you know I at least now I don't like it it's because Bob Barker if it's decided. You know it was one of those I don't think we're gonna do this anymore but he could come IG come back a little lighter. I don't know no. Not that he got like there's. They have some golf fish fry. And it's like a mark it's kind of a marketplace of all these restaurants and literally. The conch salad media patch and reach Kaye Kessler era went down there and just two or it literally what you order weird it is conch salad. And I think the guy just jumped in the like little hairy hitter Greg behind Shaq. Grab the conch and it chop it up right here put it in the salad and it was. Fun non sounds disgusting in the DC just weren't at the media had. Multiple portions of comics talent and ultimately ultimately it was it was a very large because it was off rest it was all fresh veggies it was. Dude you would've been so impressed because of how healthy it was. Could you would have just said that you're not having anything fried with dad at all. It's literally fresh Kong chopped up. With fresh tomatoes. Fresh onions for I mean it was they put hot peppers that ghost I likes the spicy user wants fresh goes pepper on there. It would yet I know you exploited through this was right up your Alley mr. skinny guy gotta go work out and run when nearing a Rottweiler chasing me. You should run its feels good. Again if very rot wanna teach me you better have a doberman is something what about the actual golf tiger the second straight year and I'll Byron in this in the well known last year he was extremely inspiring because at one point oh Friday when he made eagle he tied for the lead. And that was like his big comeback ya know what. I'll be honest tiger was not motivated at all. He looked exactly like the tiger that played in the match. Was kind of like no I gotta be here whenever. He was extremely tired. Didn't look like he was a 100% healthy and thinking about said he wasn't knowledge of Sanofi but it wasn't the back it was the Achilles and like the leg which doesn't give you warm funny Fuzzy feel in anyway since he's had surgery on met once before. But he was like. I did talk into and I'll say hey what are you gonna get to hang out with the kids because we of course always talk about family. And he was reminded me that he had to fly he was flying private on his jets right LA. And then had to take a commercial flight. To Australia. It was do all his presidents cup captain duties there flying back. And how he felt when he got back to Florida was probably good to determine whether or not he would play and now. That's right yeah and sell. We're at that point of the year with tiger in this wraparound schedule and everything that's going on with him immediately see the the match she hit it head on EG look. We're not gonna get tiger until. February like tiger that's gonna start ramping up well I don't know. I tell you this I actually believe that he feels good money gets back from Australia he's gonna play valley. But I'm doc income undocking. And like compete I think Mali's can you mean mold field that's exactly an area like when he's given out really I am good enough like the tour championship yeah that's free money. Great world ranking points. And a great way to start and a place that he's had applaud his success before. You know it's it's mallet so it's not like played Torrey Pines where it's gonna be fifty degrees and overcast and it's coops won't activate. You gotta have activated goods got an accurate of a glitch for tiger look at port kind of seen in these are solid momentum. At the end of the year with tiger in the tour championship to look at port that a muzzle looking forward to our guests now he is the face of the NFL network. He's the star of goalie to wiggle radio program and he's an avid golfer he is he has trade window. Well wait though all okay what's up here is that they. I've found out watching goalie Tim window. When you work co hosting. And you were doing a little movie trivia you with our boy ad man you don't. Trade is not your yeah. Well correct and incorrect yeah outlet look at it like by not gotten my voice yeah 00 my god knows. My my name is always been trade in my aren't ever since I was a kid that's what my parents nicknamed me. But my full name and I'll do it in what we call hedge fund how boys whose votes have been willing to look there there are benefits from an out of Connecticut a so don't want to debate speaking would you Mike Allen do you about the links in the particulars of the curious game of golf yet that is a golfer and what's the word I'm. Arrested. You have to. Eddie shack written all oh my name why does will be white Eumig whites and yeah. I mean everything you say it ain't used to be where it. Checkered pants. And the derby now and knickers plausible solid B plus fours mark has a long. The humidity SPN it's 21 years now 21 year survive and advance system a lot of once here's how I don't know about that because after 21 years you've established itself as the name any industry and in you love golf so. You we get invited to a lot of these gulf of it and no one plays more golf turnovers and how many do you play. A year well I. Don't radio show was cut into that has unlike the NFL they've been there's no that offseason where you can just sued take a few more days off I trying Plame as many as possible. Well you know I've played in. Isn't kickers in the NFL have a lot of golf tournaments because they have nothing else to do not practice right. So I know Jay Feely is Albert golfer Robbie Gould played in his a bunch. There's an LPGA event I go every year they get to see Herm and march learns we all play in that one. Up in Michigan every year I try to do as many as possible I would say on average. On a good year probably ten. And a bad year about five okay. So when did golf start how did you get into it wasn't because it is industry over UV rays anymore how we do with that illustrate with that name growing up in Greenwich. And fought exactly moms and pops at the club ever done it but now. There was nothing like that I I barely played as a kid what you Michael you'll like this or Matty will do what really got me into it. I'm one of my first TV jobs was an Allentown Pennsylvania. And we had no kids at that time. And my wife was working retail on weekends so I started playing golf because I had nothing else to do. And the guys sort of playing right around the 91 Ryder Cup toward the short Q. And that was that to this day is still the biggest bare knuckle. Bar room. Fight of a golf tournament. I've ever seen in my life in it was so intense and that really got me into and that's why this day the Ryder Cup is still my favorite sporting event of all time even though we stink get it. But that really got me into it so I just sort of play and there. And I fell in love with the game there's no other way around it just you read or you mean to become a golfer you don't there's no in between. Right yet that's what you hit that one perfect shot you know you're either dignity and I just think it's ironic too that the one golf tournament. That actually seem like guys might actually fight. Because of how intensely. Troop you know was right they did it seem like there might be a throat out that was what got you into golf now you play above what did you do before that. God I'd watch a lot of damn TV. More than anything else but here's the other thing about golf which is great for me is you're never you. Very rarely are you playing golf you like geez this is terrible it's ugly. This is not beautiful the weather's not bad not I'm one of those sick goes I played around. Last Saturday here in Connecticut because it was third forty. 41 degrees and no wind right so anytime you can check off a December round of golf for a more active yeah I can do anything above freezing as long as the wind is a weapon. Now would you get out there White House connections have you made in French interview made plain so it's been phenomenal I mean it that that's a thing that is so true. About the old axiom be you know you you get more business done on a golf course I can't tell you the number of connections. And things that that I've I've made through the game of golf there was just turn that they use have every year called the Safeway classic. And they played up you'll bayonet black course course in fort award right outside Monterey California. And it was the greatest man and Eric. There are business people diamond I'm associated with now simply because we got together in one of those pro ams and played in that turn it. And the great thing about that is that's won her first started. And ESPN Herm Edwards who have now of course is the great head coach of football owners and state ports up here on the matter married alma mater Matt but. Herman I would week and we go out there a day early. And it was a two day event so we go up on Saturday. We play Saturday we place Sunday. And then the turn it was Monday and Tuesday but they were tee times in the afternoon than in the mornings and then we did sermon our schedule. We play course Herman I just by ourselves a moderate. In the morning and go play and determined yet we can't like six rounds of golf and a four days it was just about it was the best. Well after by the end of tournaments like that you can't even hold the club no known cause your hands hurt so bad I actually caddied. That court debated net cord yeah. Up there to it when it was a Web.Com event and there there's of a funny story that's true there was an earthquake a you don't have those trees are only now. They are very low hanging but thick pine they are really thick and there was an earthquake. And 650000. Golf balls fell out of those trees it's a good bids it would not surprise me at all. Because you ever played it's it's like the trees that Olympic you know you hit those Shas and those those those balls were not amount of those trees now that would not surprise me at all I was into our bit to eight of whom had my name and the fact that I think. What are you you know we we you get out there and we did that did the beautiful thing about golf as you can go play the historic course write him played where tournaments are played when you. Put together like an ideal golf locale for you what region of the country are you. Love and ball well be a moderate is just way of America's first all the weather the weather stays the same all year. High of fifty mean high of 58 low of 52 and it gets have to put it never gets super warm and it never gets super gold. Armed and there's so many great courses of that that's always fun. I love desert golf light and are you got analyst at the juxtaposition. Of of just this darkness of the green green of the fairways and then just sand and rocks like the first time I ever played true north. In northern Scots are where your Ferraro was in 91. Or 92 and there were no houses on the course this was the monument course. And literal I mean now it's all literal houses and condos put literally it was the fairway. And then it was nothing but sorrows. And and shrub brush and bolder and sand and it was just so cool to see it sort of carved out like that was very very cool. Desert golf is awesome I love it because I hit a low ball flight you know so. My distance with the driver is awesome Kitna and order and not brutal almost roses line. For good times are ball runs Legg is on episode of cops you know I didn't get away. With the Internet and a bad it'll it'll Wal-Mart parking parking lot of something not a true north was the first place I ever saw live bobcats yeah it's really cool thumb. At the other the other place we you know we had the British Open rights for. A lot of years and I for six years my Summers that he has denied we do and if alive and then. I would go to the US open where it would be played and then we'd have a weaker too often we go played the bid cover the British Open. And I got to play a lot of of the six years I did it four of the years when Scotland Marines are to play a ton of golf and scholar and and that was also just really really cool. Where are you right now with golf with. The resurgence of tiger. Appears already get three to four more years hopefully healthy time Haralson with the convergence some of these young yet Garcia you know what at. I I hold my breath on that with tiger because. As as you guys will know what four back surgeries. I think you go it anymore it really could yeah and that's why to meet the tour championship was so special. Because I was like. This. If we're being honest that might have been. And we may never see him win again and for him to do it on. And new people that don't follow golf they were on me like Twitter like why this is just another terminal like bro it's called the tour championship for a reason look it up do your research go a little history here. This see him doing that. On that stage and to meet the cool assaying and I'm sure you guys felt the same way. One girl walked up behind him on the eighteenth fairway I remember that first happened at the western open in 97 out that happened at Cog Hill. And that was his fourth win of the year and that year with the fourth when he made one point seven I think he made to something for the win alone. At the tour championship the seed that scene recreated 21 years later there's not another sport. Where a guy can do that at his prime 41 years apart and that's that's you Laura to golf and that's the allure of tigers oh my god I hope I get four more years. But honestly there's a part of me that says. I got to see it one more time and I'm good with thank you you know I'm good with that yet and that is that when everyone was asking for that was going to be my point like. Ice as sat there that Sunday and I never forget it was again it was a guy cries sports Moeller somebody without question tiger. And I said as I guess that's it yeah I at least get to feel that won't ones are not again be an example with tiger won the masters in 97. My son was two years old and sit on my lap. You know and I am I tell it's Tiger Woods this is great you know he's. Bailey understanding any words of saying and now. He's 23 a man and we have the we still have those conversations and that's the allure of golf and along all in a lot of ways the B appeal and passing on the game from father and son. That's also the scary thing about Tiger Woods I was in the Harris I went over to Paris early look like that. I don't think tag is gonna win the tour championship aboard a Paris early I will the whole hotel look screen. Late on Sunday night but what you said is true. Everything with Tiger Woods is holding our breath and especially. After seeing how he was at the Ryder Cup now. And I perform there and then how it's performed last week at the hero world challenge. And many said my Achilles has been bothering me while. For Baxter he's that you're Q he's bothering so now it's all about hope but at least we can kind of say we got that one great run with him. Two things I want to ask you one. With all the great golf you played. Bucket list what course haven't you played that you want to and two if not Tiger Woods for you. Who our next week next. A bucket list for me the one the one I've never I've never been a banded dunes and I have never play golf in Ireland and I've done a lot of golf and Stalin never played in Ireland would have been really fortunate you know played all the planners courses. A bit on been able to get on cypress point several times love that course. Bomb rate I know I'm sorry. I'm I'm looking for a stream song to have ministries so yeah it's in valley supposed to be great. I've been a couple courses that I'd like to tell you about but if I did member that got me on their wife their accounts can't mention a couple of squads. So I've I've been pretty fortunate along those lines. And if not tiger and like who who in terms like the greatest Alzheimer who might follow next. Yes if if let's say something happens this next year you know Tiger Woods passed the shut it down and no. You know how all of the young guys that are out there now who's the guy that you go art I'm getting behind. This dude I think it's gonna be just and Thomas. I mean I really do it which is funny because you he was overshadowed by his his his childhood friend Jordan speak of the early start. Yeah I think Justin has a little more game. I think he's a little nastier yeah exactly you know he had yet he yeah attitude yeah and that's what school you know one of one the other what is thing the tiger said you know second sucks and third is worse yeah I kind of feel like just is that guy a little bit and he doesn't mind being that guy but I severed with dolphins. In and that's. We're just in Toms is perfect for that because he's the guy the go to gallon but they. Get that I had kicked him out here and you almost need a villain now and yeah false because you're not giving get a game James like tiger and again now and you meet a guy like Justin Thomas it has a ruffle people's that yet people get all over Patrick reed and I understand he's not for everybody but give me. Giving him on the Ryder Cup. Every other year every year for now for the next twenty years. Embarrassing knows him better as it bears the whole black hole Ryder Cup thing was bears must Mota. Yeah he kid not that is not patch agreed fault the one who came out it was obvious the pact agreed when audit stuff with the radical went down. He was only person put his name out there on everything mean on air does that become out of anonymous and what does that tell you if you're coming out of economist. You might not be tell the truth well the only big guy you know they won't. All the other thing about that is I love that Phil came out afterwards that yeah I never really like to set up for the dopey on the team for crying out. Gideon guy wants to beat you exactly right and that's the thing that bothers me and by the way this is my problem of the presidents cup it's a money grab by the PGA because they see how important on the Ryder Cup is. But the reason one of the reasons I believe we stink at the Ryder Cup is that we get the play the President's Cup every at a higher up made big heroes get two years disorders do their juices but this thing. And we got a lot of play the rush role I get it it's fun it's competition but the presidents cup is never going to be the Ryder Cup. And we're never going to be as good as we used to be the Ryder Cup we asked presidents cup every other year. Yeah but at the presidents cup we have fun as a team yes that's where it loose and relaxed. And at the Ryder Cup we're not I'd like the this presidents cup but it came out and said. I don't play as one of the vice captain known like that's I love that kind of honesty. He could ever say that about the Ryder Cup he would ever be able to get a wayward dad and that's why for the Ryder Cup. Guys even in as exhausted as they would beat. If you make that team you've got to play. You know. You're right it's just. I just wish there was some way we could get it to mean turn to us what it means to them I mean they asked Tommy Fleetwood in. And and end up a bunch of the other players and Poulter and they should. How can you explain to us how much this means you and he's like oh we can't put it into words yeah how much this means to us and it just doesn't mean the same. To our guys in the US one of the goals cliches and sports they want it more. They actually do what is that disconnect I don't I don't know it's it really the funny thing is it sort of started with this generation of golfers. Michael in 99 in Brookline where nude David Duvall all those people more sort of making these things like hey man. Why should I care or I can pay for this we're not doing that and then of course they had the epic comeback and they got it and that lasted for awhile and now it seems like that's gone again. You know would it is it's because all of those guys even the guys that there on the PGA tour now. They all started together on the European sort of an over there they all traveled together yep and I'll stay in the same hotel they all eat. Eat together and hang out there all friends and even the guys who aren't friends and don't get along. When the Ryder Cup captain says you and you I need you to together. Everything else is thrown aside on the American side I got my private jet you bet your private jet I got my little clique of friends. And if you're not in my clicked we're not going to be teammates yeah and mom and we're not gonna let a captain of the Ryder Cup say. Hey man I need you but not probable to play well my friend. And and you've got a captain who was like all right. OK that's fine and that we saw the resolve it kind of to a month to originate team we have. In golf it's all about me and I because that's golf right. But the European side has the ability. Once every two years ago not this. We you know we'll tell me Colin Montgomery is the epitome of that right. He can't win to save his life. On US soil with the order of merit what seven straight years on the European tour some ridiculous number. Never won a single tournament on US soil never really competed in a major when he did he choked down the stretch. The him he was the best player in the world every two years at the Ryder Cup and there was a one year where they took the concorde over they all flew over on the concorde. And they had a spot saved on the plane for the cup they're planning on bring it back with them the US would never do some like I just never would they never wanna. When you look in in terms of yeah we were fortunate in this industry you need a lot of phenomenal people you didn't come across. It fantastic courses players athletes who's the most famous person you've played golf went. Famous person to play golf with bombs and an NS DP now of course I trying to figure out what I would Marino once. That was. That was an interesting experience I was terrible that today and he was not terrible and he was very very. Generous with his time read alma might do it I mean I played with Charles but everybody outlays of Charles rhino. He's a blast bomb. You're right you are very fortunate to do that at that night did you profitable it's not a golf story and it's kind of football story yeah. In 2003 I was down covering the NBA all star game four for ESPN it was in Atlanta. That we are stay at the Ritz Carlton downtown and I walked in I was gonna have once the Stewart and he's in there and you store target tight they were boys. So he's an having lunch with tiger and white. I suspect you know social recital of talking with Stewart title there was a general Lleyton. My guess yeah. I thought about what exactly it's about five minutes after that I run out of the elevator I'm getting on the phone call my dad. Because you don't you we all books like tiger watching my dad's our goal Kabila watching tiger. So I'm I'm outside the elevators waiting to call might animal can down my phone like everyone does not you know your neck is like this down on the phone. And the doors opened the elevator and I'm. Start to walk in forgetting that people are in the elevator coming out and I wrote in to this large human league is meant when they'll watch where you're going and I look over as Michael Jordan like us are. How I can't imagine how happy I got my neighbors and I heard George so we don't watch rounds going home I got back through good. You did it cool to it inside your there's already been of the opinion I was a fan absolutely has. As long as you've been at ESPN and doing it to be talking to some liberties of players. Who gave you the most butterflies. Who give him most butterflies when you had to sit down and either interviewer chat with someone like on the air you know what could be the winning its that would. Be similar like awkward difficult ones like I had yeah Reggie Bush. Well right on all the stuff was coming out about the payments in you know the funny thing is I knew that this was not going to go well because I knew the questions I had to ask. And his representatives did not. Think that we were going to ask those questions. And so probably I'll fire it oh yeah they they got very angry so that one was awkward and then a year later after all that. Some more allegations came out and this was when. This was in 2006 it's Super Bowl 41. Between the colts and the bears and he was gonna come by courtesy of visa you know into all the stuff. And it was like that we just had gotten past of the first time. And we were all good and these new allegations came Aniston a Reggie port it's great to have you here we're gonna have to ask you question about this and you can set or talk about it that's final say. All ask more questions I don't talk about will move on but I. You know you're sitting here I have to ask you these questions. Like why don't wanna do that the visa before finally the dike. On just launched at the plug will get that no problem we'll do that but he was adamant he didn't wanna do it. And his reps came up and he'd left and we never got the interview. And and so that went down this whole thing yet that's fine now and there's no issue whatsoever but. That was awkward for a couple of times but I. I had to do it yeah I had to do it yeah and that so that was I would not butterflies is like this is going to be uncomfortable when have to win on the road you talk about a guy's got a nice golf swing Reggie Bush yeah he does all those guys and an aging admit it's incredible it in the best golfer by the way that the former player I used to. They used to be here was. In sterling Sharpe I've never seen guide murder golf pool like that he never played when he was point out he never played 36 when recently finished playing the first thing he did is took a lesson. No bad habits national natural athletic ability mean there's up. Par four on my course for the Jim Calhoun turret plate he comes up every year it's 390 yards uphill he's driven the green a couple of times I mean it's just. It's ridiculous. I've never seen of all the athletes have ever played with I've never seen a guy literally murder a golf ball more than. Sterling Sharpe a get Jenny on this one to win you three were around sports were sports fans we radial fracture where does having to hit. A six foot putt to win a match ranked in the purpose of pressure for you brutal man it's brutal. Bill like this we always plan a match and this summer. And you know it was a it was a free run at the win it and I'm white tool. But I you know and that's what I 190 yeah. Out of a hundred except for what was on the line of course it was a power lipped out I missed the comeback herself it's just it's a different guy. Right and that's the thing that goes back to the Ryder Cup. Because those guys are used to dealing with pressure on themselves but suddenly the Ryder Cup it's not pressure for yourself that's pressure preteen pressure for your country that's it and that's a different kind of deal. Well there's nothing worse than standard on the green and look around and all your friends are looking that you like we VG yeah I don't look at me it's always agree on you look at it the greatest quote ever in the history sports to me. Go back in 91 where the start of the 91 war the short Q were Ryder Cup. Hale Irwin Bernhard longer for the cup everybody's around the green and burn are longer had to wanna five footer to donate to retain the cup. And he missed it inhaler when said this line and Sports Illustrated it was the greatest quote of all time the Specter factor was high. Traffic traffic. On ones who lives there. Hey we ask everybody before everyone else I guess we always ask them this question so we got to throw it out to you before you leave and that is. You lord dream foursome you know in any any course. Anywhere and then who you playing with alive dead whatever. Not to wait we've played we've platelet. Well you know just berg. He was more road dog for a lot of years and Herman I played held a lot of golf together so Herm would have to be in that grouping yeah I I think I'd have to throw tiger in there. Just because you know I'm talking like peak tiger like 2000 to tell you the ball makes a difference and just if you go to that secondary play at right that guy. End. I'm trying to think of who would the other would be I mean there's so many I would say those two for sure. And I'm not sure who that fourth would be actually I'd have to think about that when. I don't know they'll lose a lot of guys aren't qualified prompt. You just leave it up to starter yes all of it as well we'll squeeze it probably should know we'll squeeze of more than yet joke from Sheboygan don't want to. It sure we'll bring it you know where my playing Porsche. Cypress. Cypress cypress for sure. Yes snipers is pretty cool I could walk when it's a boy or ciphers it's.
